Wow….It’s been 6 months…6 month’s since I’ve taken the time to sit here and write and I apologize to everyone…. I’m not even sure anyone reads these but oh well. I’ll write anyways. My last post on here was in February and a lot has happened since then. Not that I owe anyone an explanation, but man life has just been busy. It’s been really difficult to stop and smell the roses and take a break. I feel like I can best communicate when I write. Even if I’m writing to myself.
In February one of my very close friends died and that sent me back and into a depressive state. My old college roommate Jon passed away unexpectedly from a widow’s maker heart attack at 36 years old. He left behind two beautiful girls and a lovely wife. I’m thankful I was in a position to help them out and know that his family is taken care of. Going through that was really rough for me because I had just saw him and showed him the barn, and shared some dreams and ideas I had with him…Jon was very instrumental in my transitioning from my teenage life into adulthood. He really was man who cared a lot about others and taught me alot about myself and how to really think critically. I miss him alot…But I’m thankful for Jon’s fellowship and his friendship and glad his memory will live on. And I’m very happy I got to see him before he passed away…
In April I transferred to a new area for work and that has been very exciting. They have been keeping me busy, and I’ve really enjoyed it the past few months working in Orlando and patrolling the area. It has it challenges just like any other job, but I really am happy and thankful and glad I only have to work 8 hour days instead of 12 hours a day. Obviously being a cop (STATE TROOPER BIG HAT ENERGY) has its challenges, but I can honestly say I go to work with a good mindset every day, but man am I tired. I need break.
But if you were to really ask me how I was doing I would tell you I’m struggling. Not in a way that would cause a concern, but man I’m really struggling emotionally and spiritually. I feel there is this battle inside me where there’s a push sending me in one direction when I want to go in another direction. The battle between good and evil and its like I’ve entered into survival mode. It’s this constant battle almost like a war inside you constantly fighting. I know I’m not the only one who deals with this or struggles with this internally. I know someone of you who read this know exactly what I’m talking about. Like I just want to disappear. I want to find a horse, go into the wilderness, and just live off the land for a while. No phone, no people, no anything. Just away from society for a bit. I want to dissociate from reality for a bit.
My relationship with God lately has been terrible…and I feel like I’m the biggest let down to Him all the time. I made a comment the other day that was along the lines of “I’m tired of God” and not in a way where I reject my faith but I’m really just ready to give up (not in a suicidal way of course let me just put that out there) but like giving up on my emotions and dreaming. Like I just want to not have to think anymore…I know you shouldn’t give up on your dreams but sometimes you have to be real with yourself and split reality versus the dream world. I don’t know, maybe I’m just thinking out loud when I say that because I have so much to be thankful for and I don’t want to make it seem like I’m not thankful for or content with my life. I really am blessed. But I’m tired. I just want to rest my mind. And I know some of you out there reading this feel the same way and I truly hope that we could really discuss this in a healthy way that allows us to communicate and not feel alone. And honestly this damn social media is what that makes us feel this way! All this information we consume daily on our stupid phones causes all this nonsense to go on in our minds. We constantly compare our life to a stupid 30 second reel and wish we had what they had on the screen when in reality it’s all a show…. Take me back to the 90’s where we had dial up internet and no social media and cellphones that would answer calls and text. Or where people would communicate not through phones…I don’t know, I’m just tired. I want to rest and work on myself to make myself better.
Any who here’s the last photo of Jon and I before he passed. I was truly thankful for those moments. And here’s a video of me ripping around I4 on my motorcycle today. Yes, I got a bike on April fool’s day and man it’s been such a relaxing thing for me. Granted it’s not a horse, but it’ll do for now. It’s also kind of nice to know that the roadways/interstate I patrol I get to enjoy too.
Until next time – Mike
